Pasting Method

Pasting fabric wallpaper requires careful preparation and technique to ensure a smooth, durable finish. Here’s a step-by-step guide:

Materials Needed:

  • Fabric wallpaper (pre-pasted or non-pasted)
  • Wallpaper adhesive/Glue (if non-pasted)
  • Smoothing brush or plastic squeegee
  • Utility knife/scissors
  • Measuring tape
  • Sponge & clean water (for pre-pasted)
  • Seam roller (optional)
  • Level & pencil
  • Drop cloth

Step-by-Step Pasting Method:

1. Surface Preparation:

  • Ensure the wall is clean, dry, and smooth (patch holes, sand rough areas).
  • Remove old wallpaper or loose paint.
  • Apply a primer or sizing (helps with adhesion/Glue and easier removal later).

2. Measure & Cut:

  • Measure wall height and add 2–4 inches for trimming.
  • Cut fabric wallpaper into panels, ensuring pattern alignment (if applicable).

3. Hanging the Wallpaper:

  • Start from a corner or center point (use a level for first panel).
  • Gently press the fabric onto the wall, leaving excess at top/bottom.
  • Smooth out bubbles with a brush/squeegee (work from center outward).
  • Wipe off excess adhesive immediately with a damp sponge.

4. Trimming & Seaming:

  • Trim top/bottom edges with a sharp utility knife.
  • Match patterns carefully for subsequent panels, overlapping slightly if needed.
  • Use a seam roller lightly (avoid pressing too hard to prevent adhesive bleed).

5. Drying & Finishing:

  • Allow 4-6 hours to dry fully.
  • Avoid drafts or excessive humidity during drying.
  • Inspect for loose edges; apply extra adhesive/Glue if needed.

Tips for Success:

  • Work in small sections to prevent adhesive/Glue drying too fast.
  • For intricate patterns, dry-fit panels before pasting.
  • Use a lint-free cloth to gently clean surface after installation.

By following these steps, your fabric wallpaper should stick smoothly and last for years.
